  • Carta Nova Chardonnay

    Carta Nova Chardonnay

The name roughly translates to “New Map” or “New Frontier”.  It’s WLS’s foray into the Central Coast appellation.  We think these wines are the “new map” to great wine focused on the best fruit available from California’s Central Coast AVAs.

  • Fiddle Creek Pinot Gris 2009

    Fiddle Creek Pinot Gris 2009

This Oregon Pinot Gris displays aromas of green apple, grapefruit, pear and banana. True to its Alsatian style, the wine has great balance, weight and substance throughout the palate with appealing acidity and vibrancy displayed in its long finish. The 2009 Oregon Pinot Gris is a blend from the following vineyards: 52% Del Rio Vineyard (Rogue Valley), 31% Stoneridge Vineyard (Willamette Valley), 17% Bailey Vineyard (Willamette/Chehalem Mts.).  Whole Cluster pressing and stainless steel fermentation were complemented with aromatic yeast species to emphasize the  natural fruit characters of Pinot Gris. Lots were fermented separately to give subtle control over blending.

  • Old School Red

    Old School Red

Another addition to the Wine Liberation Society line-up.  Made by Jeff Libarle, creator of iWine and Cabernet Nation.  Old School:  adj. 1. slang for retro, vintage or classic.  2. evocative of an earlier original style.  3. referring to a time of higher standards or craft.  So, Old School’s intent is to present a stand alone red blend that doesn’t sell out to the fruit bomb crowd.  It delivers “old school” qualities:  balanced flavors, good acidity, and excellent structure without the tannic bite. A delicious blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. A solid, tasty red full of rich, dark fruit and a classy, balanced structure. Finishes with pepper and spice.  We sourced this batch from one of our favorite friends in the business, Marietta Cellars in Sonoma.

  • IWine Red Wine

    IWine Red Wine

The name iWine was simply a play on our internal abbreviation, IWI, short for International Wines, Inc.  For the label design, we scoured family photos looking for a moment that captured the enjoyment of wine with family and friends.  Seth Poole, our Vice President, found this great old shot, circa 1940, of his wife’s grandmother and great aunt pouring wine on the hood of their car in rural Alabama.

  • Orbis Cabernet

    Orbis Cabernet

Orbis was David and Judy Lawrence’s original label and vineyard when they lived in Sonoma. David sold the property and “retired” back home Magnolia Springs on Alabama’s Gulf Coast, where he moonlights as our WLS consultant.

  • 2006 Travaux de Vigne Cabernet Sauvignon

2006 Travaux de Vigne Cabernet Sauvignon

Travaux:  from the French travail, plural – travaux meaning work or job. Vigne:  vine (s)
Travaux de Vigne is the banner project of Wine Liberation Society.  The Travaux name is derived from the French use of the word as it pertains to anything involving work.  You can see “Travaux” on business signs and the sides of trucks as they roll down the ‘A’ freeways of France.

Sourced from the famous Tulocay vineyard in eastern Napa.  Tulocay (also know by the locals as Coombsville) is slated to be one of the next AVAs in California.  These soils are ideal for growing Cab, and the wine is reich, deep and complex.  We this you’ll agree that this wine has the depth and class of wines costing twice as much.

  • Schell Creek Chardonnay

    Schell Creek Chardonnay

This was originally David’s negociant label at Orbis. WLS has reinvented it with a new label but still kept the original intent: delicious California varietals at super pricing. Varietally true aromas and flavors, these are pleasant, fruit forward wines that are fantastically affordable! The wines are made by Harry Parducci at Adler Fels. Tasty, relaxed wines, downstream from run-of-the-mill.

This 100% Chardonnay was sourced from Central Coast/Monterey AVA vineyards. Crisp, elegant, well-balanced, and bright with tropical fruit and citrus flavors. A wine that really benefits from the cooling influence of Monterey’s marine night air.

Harry found fruit from two distinct vineyard locations in Paso Robles, California to put this blend together.  Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon (93%) and a dash of Merlot (7%), this wine is distinctly Paso in style – dark fruits and spice balanced with an earthy structure.

  • Ordinary Wine Co. Boneshaker Red Lot 21

Ordinary Wine Co. Boneshaker Red Lot 21

Why the bike, you ask?  The “Ordinary” bicycle (also called a Penny Farthing or Boneshaker) was introduced in the 1870’s and became the enthusiasts’ choice for transportation over the next 25 years.  Originating in England, the Ordinary became an American standard when Albert Pop’s Boston factory produced their Columbia brand.  In 1884, Thomas Stevens rode from Boston to San Francisco on one.  It was an innovative design and no ordinary vehicle.  And these, my friends, are no ordinary wines.  Balanced, smooth, racy with good traction and magnificent finish.  For the freewheeling wine lover in us all!  This will be our alternate red/alternate white concept, most likely always blends.
These wines are produced by Harry Parducci at his custom-crush facility in Santa Rosa.  His family were the original founders of Valley of the Moon Winery in 1941, and he brings this heritage and expertise to his winemaking today.

38% Zinfandel, 34% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petite Sirah, 2% Alicante Bouchet.  100% California (with 42% from the Lodi appellation).  The grapes for the Boneshaker Red blend were fermented warm and mixed twice daily through regular punch-downs and rack/return method.  This allowed a balanced extraction of flavor, tannin and color during winemaking.  About 15% of the blend was barrel aged for approximately 6 months in a mix of new and old French and American oak barrels.  The wine displays aromas of ripe red and dark berry fruits layered with notes of slight white and black pepper and crème de cassis.  The aromas carry into the palate with red fruit flavor notes in entry and full fruit into the middle.  The finish is lush and fruit flavors linger through the aftertaste.

By women, for women.  The perfect bottle for all of your OMG moments with the girls. A California Chardonnay full of ripe fruit aromas and flavors like apples and pears with a hint of vanilla.

  • Cabernet Nation

    Cabernet Nation

The earliest known reference to Cabernet was in a 1730 cellar log at Chateau Mouton declaring it to be their vine of preference. The popularity of Cabernet spread throughout the western world due to its deep, rich flavors and the vine’s ability to weather harsh winters. Cabernet’s California history dates to 1833, when Jean Louis Vigne’s San Antonio Winery first planted French varietals along the Los Angeles River. Five others can be credited as founding fathers in American Cabernet: Charles Lefranc, Agoston Haraszthy, Brother Timothy & Andre Tchelistcheff.  These are the righteous dudes of Cab history.

Cabernet Nation is a modern tribute to the trailblazers that championed this variety. We sourced mountain vineyards in Napa Valley to produce Cabernet that was true to its heritage: rich, structured, and age-worthy. A toast to the pioneers of American Cabernet! If not for these visionaries, Cabernet would not be the king of red wines.
